Hotel will Go Up, Despite Concerns from Leisureville Residents

Despite protests from retirees living in Palm Beach Leisureville, the Boynton Beach city commission has voted in favor of moving ahead with a proposed hotel next door to the senior community.

The Palm Beach Post reports it was a 3-2 decision Tuesday night, with Mayor Jerry Taylor and Commissioner David Merker voting against the site plans for a Holiday Inn Express, just outside the entrance to Leisureville on Ocean Drive.

Residents are concerned about traffic and noise and want certain things to happen if the hotel is built.  That includes a privacy wall being put up to separate the two properties.
