We heard this week that only 25 percent of students graduating high school nationwide are ready for college. That according to results from the ACT test.
But here in Florida it's even worse. Only 19 percent of students who graduated high school in Florida in 2013 are college-ready on all four of the ACT's exams--- English, math, reading and science.
That's still a slight improvement over last year's 18 percent. 40-percent of Florida students aren't college-ready in any subject compared to 31 percent nationally.
Florida's interim Education Commissioner Pam Stewart acknowledges that in her words "Florida still has a great deal of work ahead."
