The legislature is expected to pass a bill that would give us sales tax holidays for back-to-school, hurricane preparedness and energy efficiency.
The state Senate yesterday included a three-day back-to-school tax holiday in a $105 million tax cut package. Shoppers wouldn't pay sales tax on clothing items selling for $100 or less, school supplies worth $15 or less, or computers on sale for up to $750. That holiday would run for the first three days in August.
The bill also includes a three day holiday on the purchase of energy efficient appliances in September and a nine-day holiday on hurricane supplies.
