Apparently Justin Bieber's pet monkey Mally isn't safe and sound with his owner.  Though some weekend Twitter pictures led fans to believe the star and monkey had been reunited after an incident at the Munich airport, Mally is actually being held at an animal shelter waiting to be picked up.

According to E! News, the Munich-Riem animal shelter posted a photo of Mally to its website, identifying it as Bieber's monkey.  The shelter says he has been in their care since last Thursday when the pop star was stopped at the airport unable to provide the necessary legal documents.

The shelter seems to be doing their best to make Mally feel at home there.  The monkey was photographed sitting next to a framed poster of his owner and a pair of headphones.  The shelter's post adds that Bieber has four weeks to gather the proper paperwork in order to regain custody of his animal.

Bieber has concerts in Frankfurt, Dortmund and Cologne before leaving Germany on Saturday.
