Chris Brown probation reinstated

Chris Brown's got more cleanup duties, but he can rest a little easier knowing he won't be doing it from behind bars.

A Los Angeles judge has reinstated the singer's probation, taking the imminent threat of jail out of the picture.  Brown's probation was revoked last month after he was slapped with a pair of misdemeanors for a Toluca Lake fender bender in May. The charges were dismissed last week.  But Chris still has more work to do before he can put this chapter behind him.

Responding to an earlier dispute over Brown's previously-ordered community service, the judge on Friday tacked on an additional 1,000 hours of labor, including highway cleanup and graffiti removal, with the reinstatement of his probation.

The 24-year-old singer was originally sentenced to probation and more than 1,400 hours of community labor after pleading guilty to attacking then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna, in 2009.  Prosecutors argued that Brown did not properly report those community service hours.

He now has until August 25th of next year to complete the additional 1,000 hours.
