Florida's senior U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D) is giving the Keynote address at the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches Luncheon on Monday.

Here's some of what he is talking about, from Nelson's office:

Some of the most partisan members of Congress refuse to put aside their political differences in favor of finding common-sense solutions to some of our nation’s most pressing issues.  This refusal to compromise has Washington stuck in gridlock and unable to pass much of anything these days including much-needed legislation that would fund research into these algae blooms and help communities respond to the toxic discharges from Lake Okeechobee threatening the Indian River Lagoon.

Just days after meeting with experts and local community leaders in Stuart who are alarmed at the situation in the Indian River Lagoon, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) will head back to the area today to speak before the local Forum Club there which he calls “a model of bipartisanship.”

The rigid partisans atmosphere causing gridlock in Congress and his proposals aimed at reforming our nation’s tax code by closing-special interest loopholes, such as the tax breaks given to oil companies and the pharmaceutical industry, are just a few of the topics Nelson plans to discuss when he speaks at the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches Monday afternoon.

The Florida Democrat is scheduled to speak at noon in the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center, located at 701 Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach.
